As I lie on the forest floor to escape my feelings
On my bed of pine, I lie here for ever
Through the summer light, that blinds my face
To the winter rains, that mud my rest
As the days go on, vines entangle my legs
Circling and calculating, like a python to its prey
Tugging and yearning me to be part of them
Moss ascends to cocoon my body
Wherever no other life has taken its claim
But I do not fight, I do not quarrel
All I do is watch, in my sodden hollow
As the nights go on, centipedes and slaters come out to play
